Often described as the Zen of Freediving, modern techniques allow divers to shed their scuba gear and go in search of a challenging style of underwater exploration that allows closer encounters with marine life and less separation between you and the environment. Whether your goal is to swim with dolphins or whales in the wild, silently dive for closer photographs, spearfish or set a record, our course will introduce you to the less explored side of diving.
Breathing techniques, conservation of movement, streamlining, training exercises, static apnea training, equipment, safety procedures and the physics and physiology of freediving will be covered. No scuba or previous dive experience is necessary. Inquire about adding on a wild spotted and bottlenose dolphin swim or an underwater humpback encounter.
Be popular with your epicurean friends when you bring home delicious, wild abalone. Closed to commercial fishing, the only legal way to get this delicacy in the wild is to freedive. For an added adventure, we will take you north of the Golden Gate to freedive for abalone off the beautiful California coast near the famous wine-producing region of Napa.
